Black Friday is fast approaching, and with it comes its share of fraud and misleading discounts. Cybercriminals exploit these shopping periods by taking advantage of the craze that the day generates.

Black Friday is fast approaching, and with it comes its share of fraud and misleading discounts.
Cybercriminals exploit these shopping periods by taking advantage of the craze that the day generates.
They can even set up fake online sales sites and modify legitimate sites to steal funds and data, including bank details. Social networks are not spared either, with hacked posts from friends and misleading adverts encouraging people to buy products supposedly on special offer on these fake sites. Even on well-established platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, the filtering of malicious ads is deficient, increasing the risk during Black Friday.

 

Consumer vigilance is essential in the face of manipulation and deception by cybercriminals, particularly during Black Friday.
