Cyberattacks have once again disrupted Swiss online services, with several banks and municipalities targeted by cybercriminals linked to Russia.

The question would be: how much do you have to invest to protect yourself against DDoS attacks?
And the answer: it’s all a question of probability and impact.

Should we blame a town or city for not investing massively in protection against DDoS attacks? Not necessarily.
If a rigorous risk analysis has been carried out and concluded that this was not the best use of public funds, then the decision may be justified.

But… has it really been done?

Because all too often, failure to invest is not the result of rational analysis, but rather a lack of awareness, prioritization or expertise. And when the attack comes, it’s already too late.

The right investment starts with a clear risk assessment and a strategy proportionate to the actual threat.
Ignoring the problem is never a good option. This is a crucial reminder for all organizations to strengthen their digital security measures!
